Denny Wainscott, a native of Frankfort, Indiana, developed a desire for nature long ago. His grandfather taught him how to handcraft gourds into birdhouses at a very young age. Since that time, Denny has had a love of nature and the countryside. Today, from his rural home, he creates these works of art. From planting the seed, selecting the perfect time for harvest, and beginning his intricate carving and wood-burning, these unique designs come to life. Denny has perfected these skills over the years, and each project holds a special place in his heart. Many of his gourds have Native American, African, wildlife, or nautical designs with intricately carved details.

Denny has won many prestigious awards for his beautiful work and exhibits in selective art shows throughout the Midwest. In 1997 and 1998 he received the Best of Show award at the Indiana Gourd Show. He also received the Best of Show award at the Kentucky Gourd Show in 1997. In the summer of 1999, he won Best of Show Awards at Art in the Park in Clinton, Iowa and the Fourth Street Art Show in Bloomington, Indiana. Denny was profiled in the Southwest Art magazine in the January 1999 issue.
